In this day and age, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who isn't using or at least hasn't heard of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace. Indeed, these social sites have taken over the internet by storm. People are increasingly spending more time on these websites and are daily connecting with and meeting new people outside and inside their social circles.

Even business owners have taken to using these sites in helping them assess potential employees by checking out their interests and activities. Profits are also being made on a daily basis because businesses can now specifically target specific demographics and sell to them.

This development has drastically changed the concept of advertising. Business people have discovered that it's possible to advertise to a particular target market at a far lesser cost. If you want to be in on this business strategy that involves using social networking websites, the following tips could help you pull in traffic, increase leads, build up your network, and basically, boost your income.

1. Create Meaningful Interaction

The first thing you want to do is make meaningful interaction with people. Spamming other people's accounts and pages would give a bad impression of you and could even get you banned. What you need to do therefore is to let others see the best you. Talk to individuals, offer real value, connect with people so that they will not be able to resist being a part of your circle.

If you can, help as many people as possible solve their problems. With time, you'll gather so many friends and make money in the process as people buy from people they like. Write really engaging content, always respond to comments, invites, and messages. Link to interesting and informative stories and generally make your page a go-to resource.

4. Organize Promos and Contests

Consistently think of ideas for promos, contests, and giveaways. This is a great way to increase your following, gain more friends and increase your social circles.
