Writer's block is the writers worst enemy (at least after you consider the writer's measly paycheck). It's the inability to get down to work when it is time.

Some writers compare it to squeezing a little blood from a rock. Writer's block is a horrible thing to suffer from . But some experience indicates that you can blow up that block with a few simple tips and tricks.

Sometimes you just need to give your writer's brain a break and try something else for a bit. Just not writing for a while is a great way to let your mind move around and get flexible enough to write later.

It's like physical labor. Sometimes your body needs a break when you are working hard, and the same is true of your brain. Sleep is one of the best ways to work through a blockage, but if you don't have that luxury, a nap or even just a little quiet time is a little bit of the good thing.

Sometimes you just need to get the junk out of your system. Sometimes a block is a block. Try just writing whatever comes into your head and not worrying about the quality. You can get back to the subject later when you have cleared yourself out.

See, writers are also artists and freedom is a dominant theme of the artist's life. You can't always force the good stuff to come out whenever you want it to. Go raw and get it out there. Work on things that aren't what you should be writing.

Another thing to keep in mind is to get a good diet. Your mind is a part of your body and it needs certain things from your diet in order to work properly. If you are eating just a bunch of junk from the drive-throughs, then now may be a good time to take a vacation from that stuff.

Your brain is a part of your body and it needs good stuff to keep operating at top capacity. You should get some good food and possibly even some vitamins to make it all work properly the way it's supposed to.
