Making a website is an intricate process, and starting correctly makes everything easier down the road. There are a few things you should consider

1) Before you set up your website, it's a good idea to secure a domain name. Making sure you have the ".com" you want is always a good move. There are a number of websites that sell domains; take your pick.

Companies like godaddy.com sell domain names for very good prices. Yahoo also sells domain names, and there are many other companies you can use. You should only buy when they have a special going on; you can get great deals on domain names.

2. You need a web host. My posts are companies that have servers on which you can deposit your website for the public to view. This is essential because, without a host, no one could see your website.

Dedicated hosting is usually for professional companies or people who are expecting to get a lot of traffic; it's much more expensive. Shared hosting is good for beginners. You can purchase hosting from services like hostgator.com and bluehost.com. Godaddy also has a hosting service, so you can get your domain name and hosting from the same place.

3. If you want your website to look good, you should hire a good designer. You can always delete yourself, but the more complicated the website is, the better it is to hire someone with advanced skills. There are many background elements to running a website, and professionally trained website designers are the best for the job. Plus, people like to look at pretty websites.

Inexperienced designers can bog down a website with too much elaborate code, causing it to run very slowly. It doesn't matter how pretty website is if it runs as fast as snail. Other designers are too focused on technical aspects and having an efficient and speedy site, allowing the visual aspect of design to suffer. If you want to have regular traffic and bring in hundreds of visitors, you have a well-balanced site.

You can implement more advanced features into your website once you have attained the basics. There will be numerous resources available to you then.
